Google maps shows the address of several coffee shops on Hẻm (alley) 5 of Nguyễn Đình Chiểu as 5A. So in seeking out “NoMad Café,” I accidentally ended up at Café Tí Nị instead. It wasn’t a mistake I can particularly complain about, though. Tí Nị is a relatively large outdoor space surrounded by trees. You can hear a bit of the street traffic, but mostly you’re serenaded by local folk music and the patter of raindrops on the tree canopies.

The menu is extremely simple: coffee. In fact, they have no physical menu – just ask for a cà phê đá or cà phê sữa đá and sit back. They bring it still dripping from its phin – the best way to get your brew – and allow you to add ice or sugar to your liking. The black coffee is quite strong and delightfully aromatic, and costs a mere 24,000đ.

Coffee: 7/10
Workspace: 6/10
Atmosphere: 7/10
Price: 8/10
Verdict: If you don’t mind sitting outdoors, give Café Tí Nị a try and enjoy some authentic Vietnamese coffee and atmosphere.
