Cooku’s Nest Café
13 Tú Xương Street, District 3

Tú Xương is a surprisingly quiet street that sits between some of the largest arteries through Districts 1 and 3. You’ll find several nice coffee shops there, to include the Cooku’s Nest. It’s an elegant place, but also shows a bit of age. I enjoy the overall feel of the shop quite a bit. Unfortunately, most of the lower-floor tables are low, and the upper floor is all floor-seating-style. A precious few tables are “standard height.” This afternoon when I visited there was actually a young Australian teaching an English class on the main floor. I don’t know how common that is, but if you’re after a little extra English instruction, perhaps you’ll get lucky and find a similar class underway.
The menu lists only Viet-style as far as coffee goes, but has plenty of tea options, juice, smoothies, ice cream, and a few dessert cakes. The iced coffee was quite strong and had a very nice flavor. Unfortunately, it was quite expensive. My simple iced coffee was 40,000đ.
Verdict: Well, I may return since it was tasty, but just cost far too much to become a daily destination.
