Urban Station Coffee
27 Hoa Sứ, Phú Nhuận District
Wifi password: 0835172221

Urban Station is another small chain you’ll see scattered around Saigon. It’s not as ubiquitous as many others, but perhaps that has worked in its favor. The coffee is of good quality, and even comes at a very reasonable price. My iced black coffee was 19,000 đ (though the cashier had some trouble with the math of giving change). Note that the shop I happened to stop at was far from the city center, on a rather random street in Phú Nhuận District. Phú Nhuận is a fairly low-income region, so it’s possible the prices are different downtown. The menu also includes Western coffees, smoothies, and sodas, but only a very small selection of teas.

The shop is supposed to look a little industrial, and features red doors made to look like London phone boxes. Air conditioning was fine (though the outside temperature was not too hot today), but the music was crappy American pop. I was fortunate enough to get one of the little square tables, but most seating consisted of high stools at window bar-tables. Workspace would be limited there. Also, I’ll add that the wifi password is probably specific to this shop. Some chains standardize their password among all their locations, but this one is the local shop’s phone number.

Coffee: 7/10
Workspace: 4/10
Atmosphere: 5/10
Price: 8/10
Verdict: As chain shops go, this one has good coffee, but if you’re planning on doing a lot of work there, try to hit it at non-peak hours so you can get a good table.

Is the silhouette of a frog a universally-understood icon? I've gotta assume someone who doesn't know how modern toilets work is unlikely to be literate in English...
This is a slightly different take on the classic “don’t squat on top of the toilet” warning.
